8 Security & Privacy Risks of Letting AI Organize Your Screenshots
Before you let an AI app scan your camera roll, know the risks: cloud upload exposure, model-training reuse, metadata leaks, and more. Here's how to vet any screenshot organizer.
Connect Filex to Claude and sort screenshots, PDFs and photos just by asking. Tame a messy downloads folder, find a document fast, and rename files in plain language.

What Claude can do
Once Filex is connected, Claude can work directly with your files. You type what you want, and it does the work.
Describe a document the way you remember it and Claude finds it, even when the file name is IMG_4021.pdf. Scans and screenshots included.

Screenshots
Screenshots are the fastest way to save something and the hardest to find later. Flight bookings, chat threads, receipts, error messages and recipes all end up as Screenshot 2026-04-02 at 9.14.07 PM.png in one giant folder.
With too many screenshots, the only way to find one is to scroll. Filex reads every screenshot when you upload it, so Claude can find them by what they show and sort them for you.
Ask for “the screenshot with the Wi-Fi password” or “my boarding pass”. Filex extracts the text and content of every screenshot with OCR, so the words inside the image are searchable.
Tell Claude to group screenshots into Travel, Receipts, Work or anything else. It creates the folders and moves each screenshot into the right one.
Claude renames Screenshot 9.14.07 PM.png to what it actually is, like “Flight booking - Delhi to Goa.png”.
Ask Claude to go through months of screenshots at once instead of sorting them by hand, one at a time.

PDFs and documents
Receipts, bills, contracts and tax documents pile up fast, and the file names rarely say what is inside. When you need one, you end up opening files one by one.
Connected to Filex, Claude can search your PDFs by their contents, answer questions from a document, and file everything where it belongs, so you can find a document fast.
Ask for “the lease with the pet clause” or “every contract that mentions auto-renewal”. Claude searches what the documents say.
Ask for the due date on a bill, the notice period in a contract or the total on an invoice. Claude reads the file and tells you, with the source file named.
Ask Claude to move tax documents into Finance / Tax Returns, or to sort receipts by year. It creates the folders and files everything.
Filex runs OCR on every upload, so scans and photographed documents are searchable like any other PDF.

Photos and images
Photos of whiteboards, lecture notes, receipts and documents are easy to take and hard to find. Months later they are buried among thousands of other pictures.
Filex describes and reads what is in each image, so Claude can find the right photos, group them and give them useful names.
Describe the photo you want, like “the whiteboard from my physics class”, and Claude finds it without you scrolling through a camera roll.
Text in photos is read, so a picture of a whiteboard or a receipt can be searched and sorted like a document.
Ask Claude to rename photos by subject or move all document photos into one folder, across dozens of images at once.
Try asking Claude
I found 12 whiteboard photos and renamed each one with its subject and date.
Whiteboard - Physics - Mar 12
Whiteboard - Calculus - Mar 14
Whiteboard - Chemistry - Mar 19

Rename
Names like IMG_4821.jpg, scan_003.pdf and download (7).pdf tell you nothing. Good names are what make files easy to find later, but nobody has time to type them.
Claude reads each file and gives it a clear name built from what is inside it: who it is from, what it is and when.
Claude looks at the vendor, the document type and the date, then renames the file, for example “Airtel bill - March 2026.jpg”.
Ask for one pattern and every file follows it, so a folder of receipts stays tidy and sorts properly.
Claude can rename a single file, a whole folder of files, or the folder itself.
Rename one file or a hundred scans with a single request.

Claude with and without Filex AI
By default Claude only knows about the files you attach to a conversation. Here is what changes when Filex AI is connected.
| Claude alone | Claude + Filex AI | |
|---|---|---|
| What Claude can see | Only files you attach to the current chat | Your whole Filex AI library, in every chat |
| Finding a document | You locate and upload it yourself | Claude finds it from a plain-English description |
| Starting a new chat | Re-upload everything again | Nothing to re-upload, files are already connected |
| Working across many files | Limited to what fits in one attachment batch | Search and pull in only the files that matter |
| Organizing and renaming | Claude can only suggest, you do the work | Claude creates folders, moves and renames for you |
| Deleting files | Not applicable | Not possible. The connection has no delete capability |

Using Claude to manage your files with the Filex AI connector
It is a connector listed in the Claude directory that lets Claude work with the files in your Filex AI account. Once you add it, you can ask Claude in a normal chat to search, read, analyze, rename, move, upload and organize your files.
Create a free Filex AI account, open the Filex AI connector in the Claude directory (claude.ai/directory/filex-ai) and click Connect. Sign in to Filex AI, approve access, and you can start asking Claude about your files. There is nothing to install and no keys to copy.
Not by default. Claude only sees what you attach to a chat. After you add the Filex AI connector, Claude can reach the files in your Filex AI library, but only after you sign in and approve it, and only the actions the connector allows.
Yes. Claude uses Filex AI’s semantic search, so you can describe a document in your own words, like "the lease I signed in March", and Claude finds it. Because Filex AI runs OCR on uploads, scanned PDFs and screenshots are searchable by their text too.
Yes. Claude can open a PDF in your library and answer questions about it, such as the notice period in a contract or the total on an invoice. In sandboxed apps like Claude on the web, files up to 5MB are read directly.
Yes. Claude can find several files, read them and work across them in one conversation, for example comparing the totals on all your Acme invoices or checking what changed between two lease versions. How much it can handle at once depends on your Claude plan and the size of the files.
Yes. Claude can create folders and move files into them from a plain instruction like "sort my invoices into a folder per client". It can also sort newly uploaded files into the right folders for you.
Yes. Claude reads each file and renames it based on what is inside it, so IMG_8392.pdf can become Acme_Invoice_Sep_2026.pdf. It can also rename folders.
No. The Filex AI connection has no delete capability. Claude can find, read, rename, move, upload and organize files, but it cannot remove them.
Yes. Once Filex AI is connected to your Claude account, you can use it in Claude on the web, the desktop app and mobile. Developers can also add it to Claude Code from the terminal; the command is in the setup section.
Connector availability depends on your Claude plan and, on Team and Enterprise plans, on whether your organization admin has enabled it. Check Settings → Connectors in Claude to see what your plan allows. Filex AI itself has a free plan.
You stay in control. Claude has to sign in to your Filex AI account and be approved, access uses OAuth 2.1 with scoped permissions (files:read and files:write), you can revoke it from Connected apps at any time, and the connection cannot delete files. Files are encrypted and never used to train AI models.
Open Connected apps in your Filex AI dashboard and revoke Claude’s access, or remove the connector in Claude’s Settings → Connectors. Claude can no longer reach your files.
No. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard from Anthropic that connectors use behind the scenes. You just click Connect in the Claude directory. If you are a developer, the Filex AI server is a remote MCP server at filexai.com/mcp.
Yes. Filex AI also connects to ChatGPT, Grok, Perplexity and Mistral Le Chat. See the Connect AI page for setup steps for each assistant.
Yes. Filex reads the text and content of every screenshot and photo when you upload it, so Claude can find screenshots by what they show and answer questions about them.
A connector lets Claude work with an outside app or service you already use. The Filex connector lets Claude reach your Filex files, so you can ask it to find, read and organize them in a normal chat.
Connector availability depends on your Claude plan. It works on plans that support connectors, including Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. Check Settings → Connectors in Claude to see what your plan allows.
