Why Downloaded Paper Filenames Are Never Actually Useful
A paper downloaded from a journal database typically arrives named after a DOI string, an internal database ID, or a truncated title cut off at an arbitrary character limit, none of which conveys what the paper is actually about at a glance. A folder of a hundred such papers looks like a wall of near-identical, unreadable filenames.
This naming problem compounds specifically because research often happens in bursts, collecting dozens of potentially relevant papers around a specific question before reading through them properly, which means the backlog of unrecognizable filenames grows faster than any manual renaming habit can keep up with.
Filex AI reads the actual content of each paper, its title, abstract, and authors, and renames and files it based on that content, so a downloaded folder of DOI strings becomes an actually browsable library.
