Why Messy File Names Cause Real Problems
A file name with special characters, inconsistent spacing, or a mix of casing styles seems like a small cosmetic issue. In practice it causes real, recurring friction. Special characters can break links, fail to upload correctly to some systems, or render strangely across different operating systems.
Inconsistency compounds over time. A folder where some files use underscores, some use spaces, and some run every word together is much harder to scan visually and much harder to search reliably, since you never know which format a specific file will follow.
Cleaning up file names is one of those small maintenance tasks that pays off disproportionately. A folder of clean, consistent names is faster to navigate, easier to search, and far less likely to cause a technical error somewhere down the line.
